What Are Your Lead Times / How Far In Advance Should I Order My Cake?
We recommend booking your cake as early as possible. Please note that any orders are subject to availability.
During the high season (November to April), weekends can fill up months in advance. However, we will always try our best to accommodate your order.
LEAD TIMES – Online orders: Close at 3pm two full business days prior to the date of the order. For example, orders for Saturday close at 3pm on Wednesday afternoons.
LEAD TIMES – Bespoke orders: We require at least 7 days notice from receiving your payment. Any orders with less than 7 days to the date of the event must be placed via the online store.
Where Are You Located?
We are located in Unit G06 in the Salt Circle building in Woodstock.
Walk through the Salt Circle Arcade at 374 Albert Road and into the courtyard. Walk through the glass sliding doors into the main building. We are on the ground floor in the back right hand corner between Billy Now & Jan.
Alternatively you can also enter the building via the entrance at 19 Kent Street.
Can I visit Crumb To Purchase A Cake?
Unfortunately, no.
We are a pre-order bakery only, so we don’t have a shop with any ready to buy bakes. All of our cakes are made to order, and we require payment in advance.
You can however collect your order from our bakery.
Do You Offer Delivery?
All orders placed via our online store must be collected from our studio during our collection hours.
For tiered bespoke celebration cakes, we may be able to offer delivery, but this is entirely at our discretion and depends on our availability to deliver, and the location.
We prefer to deliver wedding cakes and set them up personally. This is to ensure that everything is perfect for your special day. Delivery costs are calculated according to the distance travelled and will be confirmed on your quotation.
Can I Collect My Order From You?
Yes, you can collect your order from our studio in Woodstock. Find us on Google maps: HERE.
Collection times are strictly between:
9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Tuesday – Friday)
8:00 AM – 10:00 AM (Saturday)
We are closed for orders on Sundays and Mondays.
If you are late for your collection, you will only be able to collect on our next day of business. Once you collect the cake from us, the ownership of the order will automatically be transferred to you. This means that we will not be liable or responsible for any damages to the cake after it has been collected.
Can I Phone You To Place An Order?
Unfortunately, we do not accept orders over the phone. We prefer all communication to be done via email, as this ensures that all of the information about your order is kept on record. We get very busy in the bakery, especially on weekends, and we may not always be able to answer the phone.
Our WhatsApp line is unavailable outside of business hours. If you contact us via WhatsApp, we will automatically request that you send us an email to confirm your inquiry.
How Can I Pay?
We accept EFT, YOCO, and SnapScan as payment methods, and all orders have to be paid for before they are produced. We do not accept cash at this time. Please refer to our terms and conditions for our full payment terms.

I Have A Specific Dietary Requirement Or Allergy - Can You Still Assist?
Yes we can. We offer gluten free, dairy free and vegan bakes.
Crumb guarantees a clean and safe environment when handling ingredients, especially when it involves free-from or vegan products. We do our best to prevent cross-contamination, but please note that we work in a bakery where ground and tree nuts, seeds, soy, dairy products, and gluten are used.
Crumb cannot be held liable for any allergy or adverse reactions whatsoever. Ordering from us is at the client’s own risk.
I Have A Photo Of The Cake I Want - Can You Make It Exactly Like The One In The Photo?
We do not copy other cake maker’s designs whatsoever. Instead we will use this image to inspire and suggest a new design that is truly unique to your needs and our design aesthetic. Crumb reserves the right to refuse any design request at our own discretion.
Can I Hire A Cake Stand Or Platters From You?
Unfortunately, we do not hire out cake stands, platters or cake knives. However, your event coordinator should be able to source one for you from one of the many hiring specialists in the area.
We also do not supply any hiring items for dessert displays. All mini desserts and sweet treats are supplied in protective boxes for the venue, chefs, or coordinator to display. However, we can make some recommendations for you on the design and overall look of the display. Once you have decided on a design, you can source the items needed through your wedding coordinator or decor professional.
Do You Provide Dummy Cakes?
We don’t offer cakes that contain polystyrene cake dummies (aka fake cakes).
Dummy cakes are notoriously tricky to work with, as they are very unstable and buttercream slides right off of polystyrene, especially in the South African heat.
There is also a misconception that dummy cakes are cheaper, but they are actually much more difficult to perfect and can often take much longer to decorate than actual cake.
Additionally, we try to minimise our use of non-recyclable items, so we avoid using dummies.
What Is Your Cake Decorating Style?
We don’t work in one specific style, but perhaps it can be described as “fun & creative” – bright, bold and beautiful. We don’t make old-fashioned fondant covered cakes, but we love using fondant as a creative decorating medium – think torn pieces, textured edges and flowy ruffles. We believe that cake, (and life!) is more exciting than a naked cake, so let’s get creative.
